Barcelona brings the Grand Départ to a close with a spectacular second stage and victory for Isaac del Toro
Isaac del Toro claimed victory in the second stage of the 2026 Tour de France, between Tarragona and Barcelona, after a spectacular finish on Montjuïc. Jonas Vingegaard retains the yellow jersey.
The second stage of the 2026 Tour de France brought the Grand Départ in Catalonia to a close with an action-packed day of racing between Tarragona and Barcelona. The 168.5-kilometre route culminated in a demanding finishing circuit on Montjuïc, where the general classification favourites put on a thrilling display.
Victory went to Mexico’s Isaac del Toro (UAE Team Emirates-XRG), who crossed the finish line after launching a decisive attack in the closing metres. His teammate Tadej Pogačar finished second, while Remco Evenepoel completed the podium.
Jonas Vingegaard, who finished fourth on the stage, retained the yellow jersey after his team’s victory in the opening time trial held in Barcelona on Saturday.
With huge crowds lining the entire route, especially on the streets of Barcelona, the Grand Départ of the 2026 Tour de France bids farewell to Catalonia after two historic days that have placed the region at the heart of world cycling.
