Stage 1

04/07 Barcelona > Barcelona 19.7 km

Team time trial

Stage classification will be based on the time of the top rider from each team. However, following the formula approved in Paris-Nice, times will be recorded individually for the general classification. Pay attention to the differences! The route will initially reward collective strength, with a nice ride along the Passeig Marítim and back, followed by a start from the beaches, then a stretch that will pass by the Sagrada Família along a series of flat, straight avenues that the cyclists are sure to zip through. But the final stretch, with two consecutive climbs up to the Olympic Stadium on Montjuïc, will break up the orderly arrangement and force the favourites to show what they’re made of.

KEY POINTS BY KILOMETRE

The Fòrum Park in Barcelona

The 2026 Tour de France will officially start at the Fòrum Park, a contemporary coastal site on Barcelona’s seafront. With the sea in the background, the Tour will take off from a modern setting that symbolises the city’s international profile and its commitment to public spaces.

Port Olímpic de Barcelona

Built for the 1992 Olympics and renovated in 2024, the Olympic port is today a city space spanning over 20,000 m2 and featuring large areas for walking, sports and leisure. This renovated, sustainable site brings together public sailing activities, the blue economy, food, culture and family fun. By passing through this area, the Tour will connect the legacy of the Olympics with Barcelona’s cycling identity and connection to competitive sport.

The Sagrada Família, in Barcelona’s Eixample district

The route crosses the Eixample district and reaches the Sagrada Família, one of the most famous icons of world architecture. Designed by Antoni Gaudí and still under construction, it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a symbol of Barcelona’s identity. In 2026, the Sagrada Família’s Tower of Jesus Christ will be completed.

Casa Batlló, on Barcelona’s Passeig de Gràcia

One of the most elegant stretches of the route. Passeig de Gràcia is one of the city’s main thoroughfares, bringing together modernist architecture, shopping and city life. The Tour will pass by Casa Batlló and Casa Milà (La Pedrera), two Gaudí masterpieces that represent Barcelona’s elegance and creativity.

The stage finish will be on Montjuïc right by the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, which hosted the opening and closing ceremonies and all the athletics competitions for the 1992 Olympic Games. This symbolic, historic venue will now host the first stage finish of the 2026 Tour de France, in a city that has successfully brought together sport, heritage and urban life.
