Barcelona will be the venue for the official presentation of the Tour de France 2026 teams on 2 July, in an event that is open to the public and will combine sport and architectural heritage. The cyclists will parade along Avinguda de Gaudí from the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site to the Sagrada Família, turning this space into a unique, symbolic venue.
The event will dovetail with Barcelona’s naming as the World Capital of Architecture 2026 and will feature two icons of Modernisme, the works of Domènech i Montaner and Antoni Gaudí Mayor Jaume Collboni has stressed that it will be ‘the best presentation of teams in the history of the Tour’, while the Councillor for Sport, David Escudé, has pointed to the historical nature of the event, which also commemorates the centennial of the death of Gaudí and the 150th anniversary of Cerdà’s passing.
With this presentation, Barcelona is kicking off the Grand Départ 2026, which will include three stages around Catalonia from 4 to 6 July. The trophy of the Tour, which has recently arrived from Paris, can now be visited at the Joan Antoni Samaranch Olympic and Sports Museum.
