Barcelona City Council is deploying a special mobility operation this Sunday for the second stage of the Tour de France 2026 to ensure mobility, provide information to the public and guarantee the smooth running of the Grand Départ.

To minimise disruption caused by the race, the public is advised to use the metro, which this Sunday is increasing services by 25%. The public response was already evident during the first day of the Tour: by 8.00 pm on Saturday, metro validations had increased by 20% compared with the previous Saturday and, by the end of the day, the increase stood at 17%.

The second stage will enter Barcelona via the Carretera de Collblanc and continue along the Travessera de Les Corts, the Carrer de Sants and the Carrer de Creu Coberta to Plaça d’Espanya. From there, the route will continue to Montjuïc, affecting roads including Avinguda Paral·lel, Passeig de Montjuïc, Avinguda Miramar and Carretera de Montjuïc. The circuit will be closed between 3.45 pm and 5.45 pm, and traffic will gradually resume from 6.00 pm.

In response to the period of high temperatures, Barcelona City Council has also reinforced its preventive measures by installing 35 mobile drinking fountains along the route, clearly signposted and complementing the city’s existing network of drinking fountains. People are also reminded to follow the recommendations for protecting themselves from the heat to enjoy the Tour safely.
