Barcelona to host a major public festival to mark the start of the 100-day countdown to the Tour de France 2026
On 26 March, Passeig de Lluís Companys will host family activities, a tribute to cycling in the city and the première of the official Grand Départ song performed by Doctor Prats
Barcelona will launch the 100-day countdown to the Grand Départ of the Tour de France 2026 with a major public festival on 26 March at Passeig de Lluís Companys, starting at 5.00 pm. The event will be open to all city residents and aims to share the city’s excitement about the arrival of one of the world’s most important sporting events.
The celebration will combine sports activities, live music and a tribute to Barcelona’s cycling tradition, with initiatives designed especially for children and families to bring the spirit of the Tour to them and encourage cycling as a healthy and sustainable form of mobility.
Tribute to historic cycling clubs
The event will also include a tribute to the city’s cycling tradition, honouring historic clubs that have promoted cycling for more than a century, such as Sport Ciclista Català (1912), Agrupació Ciclista Montjuïc (1917), Unió Esportiva de Sants (1922) and Club Ciclista de Gràcia (1929), among others.
Launch of the 100-day countdown clock and the city lit up in yellow
One of the most symbolic moments of the celebration will be the launch of a 100-day countdown clock to the Grand Départ of the Tour de France Barcelona 2026, signalling the start of the final stretch before the event.
Alongside this launch, several emblematic buildings in Barcelona will be lit up in yellow, the iconic colour of the Tour, making it clear across the city that the major cycling event is drawing ever closer.
Launch of the official song by Doctor Prats
The celebration will culminate with the presentation of the official song for the Grand Départ Barcelona 2026, created by the Catalan band Doctor Prats. The track, entitled Energia!, is intended to become the anthem that will accompany the city in the months leading up to the Tour.
To mark the occasion, the group will give a short live concert open to all city residents, premièring the song and turning Passeig de Lluís Companys into a major space for collective celebration.
