Tuesday saw Barcelona experience a grand show to conclude the programme Esport i Dansa Ara Joan Serra, held at the Palau Sant Jordi. The event brought together nearly 10,000 pupils in their second year of primary school, accompanied by 1,200 teachers from 250 schools in the city, who shared the work they have carried out over the school year with nearly 20,000 friends and relatives.

This year’s edition had cycling as its thread, coinciding with the year that Barcelona hosts the start of the Tour de France. On 4 July, the city is the scene of the Grand Départ with a team time trial event, and on the following day the second stage arrives here too.

The joint choreography combined rhythmic movement and bodily expression, highlighting the skills learned by the children during the academic year and the work carried out at their schools.

Held in Barcelona since the 90s, the Esport i Dansa Ara Joan Serra is regarded as the city’s largest educational sports event and has established itself as a key event on the school calendar.

The event could also be followed live on the BCN Esports YouTube channel and the municipal sports website.
