From 4 to 8 May, theMiquel Poblet Municipal Velodrome in Horta hosted another edition of the “Aprèn a pedalar” (Learn to Pedal) programme, an initiative aimed at promoting cycling skills and raising awareness of the possibilities of adapted cycling sports.

This edition involved 60 students between the ages of 10 and 16 from three special education schools. The activity was conducted in small groups of 10 children, accompanied by specialists in adapted cycling with experience working with students with disabilities.

The programme aims to help children discover cycling in a safe, progressive and personalised way, adapted to their individual needs. It also introduces students to an inclusive sport, reinforcing values such as confidence, autonomy, mobility, and active participation.

During the event, the Horta Velodrome, located in the Horta-Guinardó district, was transformed into a space for learning and discovery, where participants could experience cycling and explore new opportunities for practising sports.

With initiatives like “Aprèn a pedalar”, Barcelona continues to promote inclusive sports and access to physical activity for all students, regardless of their abilities.
