Barcelona turns the bicycle into a synonym for sustainability, health and mobility, inviting everybody to enjoy the city on two wheels.

The Barcelona Bike Festival and Bike Ride is back, offering an essential event to enjoy sustainable transport together on two wheels. This year’s festival is being held in Passeig de Lluís Companys on Sunday, 5 October, from 10 am to 2 pm, with activities for young and old, music, workshops, a fair for organisations and a real eagerness to move towards sustainable mobility.

Bike Ride route

The Bike Ride gets under way at 10 am in C/ Aragó, between Passeig de Sant Joan and C/ Sicília, and will head along Aragó as far as C/ Vilamarí, returning via Floridablanca and taking in Pl. Universitat, Plaça Urquinaona and Passeig Pujades to conclude the route in  Passeig de Lluís Companys. This year’s route avoids Plaça Espanya because of the works in progress there, but maintains its essence: to enjoy Barcelona in a safe, healthy and different way with the goal of promoting more active mobility.

With over 3,500 cyclists expected to take part, the Bike Ride is one of the most eagerly awaited moments of the season, a celebration where families, friends and cycling enthusiasts come together to make their way around the city in a festive atmosphere with a message. Organised by the Manager’s Office for Mobility, Infrastructures and Works, the event is supported by the Barcelona Institute of Sports, the City Police and various organisations from the Mobility Pact, which work together to drive a cleaner and more efficient city model.

Bike Festival

Throughout the morning, Passeig de Lluís Companys is set to host the Bike Festival, an information and leisure space where the bicycle takes centre stage. You’ll find a fair for commerce and organisations, with activities for visitors to discover the latest in cycling, try bikes, discover initiatives and share experiences. There will be activities for people of all ages, plus competitions and draws for items linked to the world of the bicycle.

With an eye on the Tour de France

This year’s Bike Festival will also be a way of gearing up for the Tour de France 2026, which is starting from Barcelona for the first time ever, with the city hosting the Grand Départ for the 113th edition of the race. At the exhibition point “Barcelona i el Tour, un bon tàndem”, visitors can see the official trophy and a Tour jersey and take photos at stand offering a first-hand insight of the sporting spirit of this international competition.
