The Grand Départ for the Tour de France makes the Costa Daurada a top class cycling tourism destination
Promotion of the Costa Daurada as a cycling destination with sessions in Madrid, Gijón, Valencia and San Sebastian, coinciding with the arrival of the Tour 2026. Over 200 professionals took part in the sessions.
The Tourism Board for Tarragona Provincial Council launched a promotional campaign in Madrid, Gijón, Valencia and San Sebastian to position the Costa Daurada as a strategic cycling destination in a key year; the first time ever the Tour de France has come to the Tarragona counties
Four professional presentations were given in October and November, drawing over 200 attendees between cycling clubs, specialised agencies, the media and outstanding figures such as Gema Pascual, the manager of the national women’s cycling team, and the former cyclists Dani Moreno and Miguel Perdi, plus representatives from the Euskaltel team.
The vice chair of the board, Eduard Rovira, strengthened the image of the Costa Daurada as an authentic paradise for cycling enthusiasts and encouraged people to discover the area before and after the Tour passes through it. The sessions also provided an opportunity to promote local gastronomy, with tasting activities for local produce and DO wines from the areas of Montsant, Tarragona, Conca de Barberà, Penedès and Priorat.
The initiative was complemented with new promotional material: a cycling tourism catalogue, a website, a promotional video and graphic elements and merchandising, boosting the projection of the Costa Daurada as a top class destination for sport, culture and gastronomy.
